History
Brewed in Munich as a Bavarian response to the growing popularity of the Bohemian Pilsener, the Helles represents a reluctant acceptance of pale malt among brewers known for their Marzens, Bocks, and Dunkels. German for light, the Helles strikes a balance between the public’s demand for pale malt characteristics and the tried and true malt forward style that brewers had strongly favoured before the advent of pale malt.
Tasting Notes
The Gladstone Munich Helles sparkles with brilliant clarity, a dark gold body and crisp white head. Aromas of ginger and bready malt remind of gingersnap cookies, mildly spicy flavour is balanced by complimentary grainy malt and high carbonation that combine to make the Helles a very thirst quenching and easy drinking Lager.
